Climate change is significantly affecting the environment. We are witnessing unprecedented increases in temperatures. The ocean is continuously absorbing vast amounts of CO2 from the atmosphere, making it the largest carbon sink. This excessive CO2 in the oceans leads to increased acidification, raising pH levels. Additionally, oceans absorb a lot of heat energy, and greenhouse gases are major contributors to warming seawater. This affects rainfall patterns, increases temperatures, and results in more severe storms like hurricanes. Numerous issues, including deforestation, desertification, and agricultural land use, significantly contribute to climate change. These factors collectively influence the Carbon Cycle; as carbon moves between reservoirs, an increase in one can lead to instability across all. Furthermore, excess carbon and climate change result in biodiversity loss and extinction by disrupting habitats, ecosystems, and life cycles. Yes, there are simple solutions to these problems. Planting more trees can reduce co2 emissions drastically, as plants take in co2 in the process of photosynthesis, increasing the amount of oxygen. Using renewable technology can decrease the pace of climate change such as harvesting solar energy or wind energy. Lastly, simple lifestyle changes such as saving electricity when nonessential can benefit individuals, our communities, and Mother Earth.
